Elizabeth Kelley's art exhibition "Skin and Bones" on display in Campus Center
The 91´«Ã½ is hosting an exhibition entitled “Skin and Bones” by Maine artist Elizabeth Kelley from June 1, 2009 through June 28, 2009 in the Campus Center at 91´«Ã½â€šÃ„ôs Biddeford campus from 8:00 – 5:00 p.m. daily.
Kelley’s collection includes oil sketches and paintings, as well as charcoal and pastel drawings and figure studies. She has had a life-long love of the arts and received a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from Massachusetts College of Art in 1989. She has continued her studies under several artists in Maine, including Janet Conlon Manyan, Dewitt Hardy and Stephen Burt.
Kelley opened her studio in Arundel in 2003. “Painting and drawing from life are essential skills, and my goal is to depict gesture, movement and form expressively, while maintaining a balance of structural integrity,” states Kelley. She finds the quality of her work correlates to keeping a consistent practice.
Kelley has participated in juried exhibitions with the Ogunquit Art Association, the University of Southern Maine’s The Figure Revealed II and The Figure Revealed III and River Tree Center for the Arts.
Her paintings were included in the Cygnet Gallery‚Äôs Landscape Invitational 2008, 2009 and exhibited as an invited 2-D artist during the Southern Maine Clay Guild‚Äôs Prelude Show in 2008. She also has had a solo show at the Pantry Café, Biddeford and exhibited with the Cape Porpoise Painters. Other work by Kelley can be seen at Cygnet Gallery in Portland, Maine.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
